Alcohol
and Sex
Myths
about alcohol and sex:
Many
people believe that alcohol helps you to perform better in bed. This
simply isn't true. While a few drinks may loosen your inhibitions, the
fact is that several studies have found that as the concentration of
alcohol in the blood increases, sexual arousal decreases. Additionally,
studies have shown that alcohol suppresses the physical sexual response
of both men and women.
Did you know that…
- Alcohol
use can lead to unplanned sex, & unplanned sex is not romantic,
it's risky.
- Alcohol
is probably involved in more teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted
diseases than any other factor.
- In
some local Thunder Bay bars, 250 students were surveyed. A significant
majority of both males and females said that they had sex under
the influence of alcohol, and may not have had sex with that person
if they were sober.
- Alcohol
can set you up to be a victim of sexual assault.
Perhaps
the most frightening facts:
- Alcohol
is involved in over half of the reported sexual
assaults that occur between people who know each other.
- Alcohol
is the oldest and most frequently used date
rape drug there is.
