Stop listening to those commercials for so-called "snack foods" and pick something that's going to do your body good!

Snacks should be thought of as "mini-meals" - choose from 2 or more groups from Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating for a healthy snack.

Some 1-minute "no-cook" snack suggestions:

  • Crackers and cheese
  • Peanut butter spread on an apple or a banana
  • Cereal and milk
  • 1/2 melon with cottage cheese
  • orange sections dipped in fruit yogurt
  • leftover cooked meat or poultry wrapped in a tortilla
  • yogurt with granola or dried cereal
